Spend your #^{%!?@ Per Diem
It’s not bonus beer money or to pay your rent. It’s your responsibility to take care of yourself when you are able and take the load off of your production department. Producers and PAs have 99 tasks to take care of. We are trained to say yes to every request, don’t make us always say yes. Don’t ask for rides across town or to the airport, don’t call us at the hotel at 9pm and ask for some water bottles out of crafty, don’t ask us to pick you up some axe body spray the next time we run to Wal-mart. Do ask us all of these things, if you are out of all other options.
Film set per diem is typically allocated to cover essential daily expenses incurred by cast and crew members while working on location, including meals (breakfast/dinner when not provided), lodging (when not provided), and incidental costs (Misc. things you forgot to pack). When lodging is not needed provided can range on average from $50-$80+. It serves as a practical solution to ease the financial burden associated with temporary relocations during film productions, ensuring that individuals have the means to sustain themselves comfortably. The flexibility of per diem allows recipients to manage their daily needs without the necessity of submitting individual receipts, streamlining the reimbursement process and fostering a more efficient and focused work environment on set.
