Film on Weekday’s week days.
When possible plan your filming on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays.
There are lots of reasons for this. Comfort, Money, and Convenience.
As a team leader, it’s your responsibility to take care of your crew & client. You want them to stay healthy and happy. A crew/client that knows you’ll take care of them is a crew that will return the favor when it comes to choosing between your company and another company — that plans to film on the same days. There will be times when you need to go 15, 20, 30 minutes into over time. If you’re crew knows you work hard for them, they are a little more likely to let some things slide
When you film on a Monday or Friday you are cutting into their family/rest time. If you film on a Monday, they are prepping or worrying all day Sunday. If you film on a Friday, they don’t get home until late and are tired all weekend. If there are returns to be made, they are doing it during time that should be allocated to resting, enjoying hobbies, and time with family.
It’s easier on your budget when you film on the middle week days. If you have people traveling, planes and hotels are more expensive on weekend days. If you have rentals, many rental houses are closed on the weekends so you have to pickup on a Friday or return on a Monday. That stretches out the project by a few more days. Many businesses, restaurants, and caterers are closed on Mondays. After a long weekend of hustling food to bridezillas, they need a break. Less food options makes your job harder, and you might have to pay more for a meal that isn’t as nice for your crew and client.
Use Mondays and Fridays as prep days and returns, closing out projects days.
